Lead time is usually the constraint that shapes an industrial order, not specification. A custom profile means die design, die trial, correction, and only then production, which can add weeks before the first metre ships. Ordering proven sections from an Indonesia aluminum factory skips that sequence entirely, because the die already exists and has already run. Aluminum contributes further savings downstream, arriving at roughly one-third the weight of steel with a self-forming oxide layer that removes the galvanizing stage from the schedule.
PT Exalum Metal Indo extrudes at its facility in Tangerang, Indonesia, serving industrial and architectural buyers in domestic and overseas markets. The catalog of Exalummetal industrial aluminum products lists profiles by section number, a fixed reference that reproduces the same cross-section on every order, which is what keeps an assembly line compatible with stock ordered months apart. Here are the list of six profiles that account for the majority of industrial volume.
- Rectangular Hollow
Rectangular hollow section stays square under off-centre load where an open profile would twist, suiting sign posts, gates, machine guarding, and cantilevered arms. Section 45090 is 25 by 12 mm in a 1.20 mm wall at 0.230 kg per metre, and section 46002 is 75 by 25 mm in a 2.00 mm wall with a 2.00 mm radius, 1.041 kg per metre. Extruded through a porthole die, the four walls close without a weld, so the section has no seam to inspect or fail in service.
- Flat Bar
Flat bar is general-purpose fabrication stock for mounting plates, straps, spacers, and reinforcement. Section 10027 is 15.40 mm by 2.00 mm at 0.083 kg per metre, and section 10045 is far heavier at 80.15 mm by 6.15 mm, 1.346 kg per metre, acting as light plate without plate-order minimums. Extruded bar leaves the die with square, clean faces, unlike sheared strip, which carries burrs and edge stress into every downstream operation.
- Equal Angle
Equal angle stiffens 90-degree junctions in framing, guarding, shelving, and corner protection. Section 20022 is a light 10 mm leg at 0.80 mm wall, 0.042 kg per metre, while section 20048 is a 19.05 mm leg at 2.00 mm wall, 0.196 kg per metre. Sizing to the actual bracket load rather than over-specifying across a full order is where the catalog range pays off, since each wall thickness is a separate die.
- Conveyor Profile
Conveyor profile, known as T-slot extrusion in North American drawings, is the modular frame system that replaced welded steel on many production lines. Section 70440 is a single-slot rail at 1.35 mm wall, 1.184 kg per metre, and section 70010 is heavier at 2.15 mm wall, 1.589 kg per metre. Because everything bolts through T-nuts, a workstation can be reconfigured when the line changes instead of being cut apart and rewelded.
- Heatsink
Heatsink profiles pull heat from motor controllers, LED drivers, inverters, and network servers. Section 96010 runs a 1.00 mm wall at 0.313 kg per metre, and section 96003 carries 1.50 mm fins at 0.875 kg per metre for higher continuous duty. Fin density is what the shape exists for, and no other extruded profile delivers comparable surface area for the weight. Full section dimensions are published on the Exalum product pages.
- Unequal Channel
Unequal channel edges and retains panels while allowing movement on one axis, used as track for partitions, shopfitting, and glazed screens. Section 32042 is 50.80 mm deep against a 12.70 mm web in a 0.90 mm wall, 0.182 kg per metre. That deep, narrow geometry grips panel edges over long spans and is close to impossible to fold accurately from sheet, but a die repeats it exactly on every reorder.
Standard profiles remain the faster route for industrial supply, with tooling already in place, shorter lead times, and dimensions that hold across repeat runs. The right section depends on load path, orientation, fabrication method, and the finish the end use demands.
